Tickets Purchased!

I finally took the plunge and purchased tickets for the World Mermaid Awards 2011 that will be taking place this August at the Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas!

Sita Lange was really helpful and answered all my questions!

So far as my tail goes, progress is definitely being made! I'm getting a lot faster at painting the scales. Mum dropped off a second set of flippers to me at work this morning so that I'll have a pair to swim in and practice when I'm not wearing my tail! Very exciting stuff!

Have a happy Friday the 13th everyone!

Pink Mermaid

Also! A quick piece of artwork I did on my lunch!

World Mermaid Awards Update!

I've heard back from Sita Lange, who has been very helpful in answering all my many questions, and am starting to get pretty excited about everything!

I will be ordering my tickets over the next few days after I make a few calculations and budgeting.

I'm still working hard on my tail and am making progress! I still have a long way to go before it is complete, but I am still pumped nonetheless!

Also! Mum and I had an amazing shopping trip and Mum came across the perfect pair of leggings for under my tail! We also came across a really good top that I am going to paint to match my tail! I'll post pictures soon!

Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone!

Questions Asked

I've fired off an email to the World Mermaid Awards to get a few more details on prices and such. I am really looking forward to hearing back!

They've updated their website once more and things have been cleared up, but if you know me I always like to be extra sure! Ha ha!

I'll post updates as soon as I hear back! Fingers crossed!

Photos and Scale Painting

A quick video of me starting the process of painting scales on the lower portion of my newest mermaid tail. Each row takes me between 8 and 10 minutes to complete. I am estimating the the rest of the tail (both sides) will take me roughly 16 hours to complete.

I have also uploaded new photos to my Flickr account which you can see in the left menu!

Keep on swimming!

Swimming Adventures!

Mum and I went swimming yesterday afternoon and had a blast! My Mum is such a natural in the water which makes it really fun to swim with her! We both had our flippers and were having all kinds of fun twirling around and doing somersaults and back flips in the water and seeing how far we could swim underwater on a single breath of air. It was so much fun! Mum and I are an awesome team!

AND in other news, I held my breath for 1 minute and 16 seconds today between my old record by one whole second! Woo! It was the longest second of my life!! It's getting easier and easier to hold my breath for 1 minute. I feel less discomfort and up until 45 seconds I don't feel anything (though sometimes I really want to yawn).

I also made it the length of the lanes portion of the pool which happens the be the farthest I've ever been able to swim underwater on a single breath of air. It was fully awesome!

Now I just need to exercise the muscles that block airflow through my nose. I think I've finally figured out how, but now doing it while swimming seems to be a bit of a different story for me... Ha ha! Well, I'm back in the water on Wednesday to practice so hopefully I figure it out!

Have a happy Monday everyone!
